The silence from Main Stream media with regards to the Islamic Party of Ontario is deafening.
Many media personalities discount this party, calling it a flash in the pan, nothing to be concerned about. Muslim personalities have also discounted this party as being “homophobic, mysogynistic”. I am speaking specifically about Mohammad Hashim, this is the gentleman that wrote the public statement for the family of the Danforth shooter, Faisal Hussain. He discounted journalist Tarek Fatah’s concern about IPO with the following words:
Here we go again. Tarek Fateh doing his usual batshit crazy routine. I have no idea how he can say, calling him an ‘enemy of Islam’ definitively equals a death threat – as somehow that labels him an apostate and therefore makes killing him the responsibility of every Muslim out there. He’s nuts. Who cares what you are man? Do you crazy routine as you want but to claim yourself as being threatened here in Canada is just nutters.
Toronto Imam Ibrahim Hindy calls the platform of the IPO ‘trash’.
We have asked this before, is this carte blanche for criticism against Islam? If Islamic personalities criticize a political party based on Islamic principles, does this mean non Muslim Canadians are given the same privilege?
Yet, up to this point, non Islamic Main Stream news sources are curiously quiet, not only about this party, but also about Muslim criticism of this party. No reports, aside from an Op-Ed from Mr Tarek Fatah, Sun News. Nothing. Positive or negative.
Why is that? Why is the main stream media ignoring this political party? They certainly have reported extensively on another ‘rogue’ party, the PPC, People’s Party of Canada, and their leader Maxime Bernier. Perhaps that is because the PPC have had decidedly Western democratic conservative views.
The founder of IPO has an extensive bio of activities surrounding Islamism. Being the president of the now defunct website TheMuslim.Ca, Mr Anwar, founder of IPO published, or allowed to be published a call for the caliphate in Tunisia in connection to the Islamist group Hizb Ut-Tahrir

Hizb Ut-Tahrir’s views towards the Jews is known
Their hatred for Israel, and their desire to annihilate them has been well documented, including the following press release given in Bangladesh in June of 2010:
“O Muslim Armies! Teach the Jews a lesson after which they will need no further lessons. March forth to fight them, eradicate their entity and purify the earth of their filth”
Hizb ut-Tahrir operates freely in Canada.
Canadian Imam Mazin Abdul-Adhim, based in London, Ontario, closely affiliated with Hizb ut-Tahrir has been quoted as saying about Israel:
“May Allah cause the winds to increase and the fires to spread far and wide, and burn their illegitimate properties and all their beloved belongings to ashes, and take from them what they took from the people of the pure land of Al-Aqsa and its surrounding area,”
With this in mind, it is no wonder that one of the only groups that has rallied to fight this very concerning political party is the Jewish Defense League in Toronto, Ontario, a group that fights against antisemitism and fights for the right of existence of the Jewish state of Israel.
The leader, Meir Weinstein, released a video, stating his action of going to the police about their very grave concerns about this political party. They have vested interest in trying to stop the implementation of this party. As should the rest of Canada.
It’s not just the party that is so concerning, it is who is behind the party, their affiliations, their activism and what it can produce.
We would do well as Canadians to be just as concerned as the Jewish Defense league is about this development.
