Let The Quran Speak, a weekly media production promoting Muslims and Islam, is hosting a fundraising dinner February 17, 2019 entitled “Let the Quran Speak Family Day Fundraising Dinner” to be held at the Grand Cinnamon Banquet and Convention Center, Toronto, Ontario.
Among the list of speakers is Imam Siraj Wahhaj.
Siraj Wahhaj is an African-American Imam of Al Taqwa mosque[1] in Brooklyn, New York. He is also leader of the Muslim Alliance in North America and was formerly vice-president of the Islamic Society of North America.
Mr Wahhaj was born into a non Muslim family, and was active in his church as a young man. In 1969, he joined the Nation of Islam, an organization notorious for it’s anti Jewish, racist sentiments, and during that time, he was very vocal in his belief that “white people are devils”. In 1975, he became a Sunni Muslim under the guidance and encouragement of Warith Deen Mohammed.
Mr Wahhaj is known for his controversial views on sharia, jihad and the Islamic Ummah. He has been quoted as saying “Islam is better than democracy. Allah will cause his deen [Islam as a complete way of life], Islam to prevail over every kind of system, and you know what? It will happen.” and “Where ever you came from, you came to America. And you came for one reason- for one reason only – to establish Allah’s deen.”
He was also a defense witness at the trial of the Blind Sheikh, Omar Abdel-Rahman, the former leader of the Egyptian terrorist organization, Gama’a al-Islamiyya, calling him a ‘respected scholar’
He has also indicated an encouragement for physical jihad.
Mr Wahhaj was also a guest speaker at a conference last October sponsored by Islamic Circle of North America called “Carry the Light”.
This Imam is invited to speak at a Family oriented fundraising dinner in Toronto. An American Imam who allegedly advocates jihad, lauds terrorists, and strives for a worldwide Islamic Ummah. What could go wrong?
